About the Safety Committee

The purpose of the Safety Committee is to provide recommendations to FHR on enhanced refinery safety programs and community initiatives. Among other initiatives, the Safety Committee helped establish the FHR telephone call-out Emergency Preparedness Network – or EPN – system.

Flint Hills Resources, in collaboration with the CAC,the city of Eagan and Qwest has introduced an Emergency Preparedness Network (EPN) that is designed to rapidly notify people in an affected area of an emergency by sending a recorded message through the telephone system.

Flint Hills Resources recently achieved MNSTAR certification through Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA). This certification program recognizes companies where managers and employees work together to develop safety and health management systems that go beyond basic compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and result in immediate and long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses.
