Current CAC Initiatives Revolve Around Three CAC Committees

1) Environmental Committee (Michelle Kelly, Becky Kenow/FHR, Fred Mitchell, Scott Parr/MPCA, Roger Tippett, Dennis Wippermann)

The purpose of the Environmental Committee is to review, prioritize, study and make recommendations to the full CAC, and ultimately FHR, on issues and concerns related to air, water, solid waste, and other environmental issues from both a community and a regulatory perspective. The committee works with independent consultants to collect and review data, and to assist it in making its recommendations.

2) Safety Committee (Mary Conroy, Ed Florez, Dave Gugino, David King, Mark Koetke, Scott Lindemann/FHR, Steve Orne/FHR, Jesse Swenson)

The purpose of the Safety Committee is to provide recommendations to FHR on enhanced refinery safety programs and community initiatives. Among other initiatives, the Safety Committee helped establish the FHR telephone call-out Emergency Preparedness Network or EPN system. To learn more about EPN download this pdf document.

3) Community Outreach (Kristen Engelmann, Margaret Flower, Velita Frandrup, Zac Lagen, Ray Martin, Shirley Pike)

The purpose of the Community Outreach Committee is to serve as a liaison between the CAC and area communities and to facilitate discussion on current CAC initiatives. In addition, the Committee promotes the CAC through it’s website and other communications.

Ad hoc Committee – Membership and Operations (Dennis Wippermann, Nancy Leland)
The purpose of the Membership and Operations Ad hoc Committee is to manage the CAC membership according to the original guidelines established by the Minnesota League of Women Voters, and to help maintain and update the CAC?s operational guidelines and planning needs. The committee works with an independent consultant to manage and oversee its membership recruitment procedures.
